Privacy Policy (RentSnap)

Overview

RentSnap (“the App”) is developed and operated by Dominic Aumann (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the App handles, how it is stored, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Data We Collect

Your data stays on your device. The App does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Specifically:

• Property details (names, addresses, tenancy dates) — stored locally on your device only.
• Room names and photos — stored in the App’s private storage on your device only.
• Meter readings and associated photos — stored locally on your device only.
• Notification preferences — stored locally using iOS system storage.
• Subscription status — stored locally on your device.

We do not have access to any of the above at any time.

Permissions We Request

The App requests the following iOS permissions:

• Camera — to photograph property rooms, fixtures, and meter displays. Photos are saved directly to the App’s private storage and are never uploaded anywhere.
• Photo Library (optional) — if you choose to import existing photos into a report. Selected photos are copied to the App’s private storage only.
• Notifications — to send you move-in and move-out date reminders you configure yourself. All notifications are scheduled locally on your device; no data is sent to any server to trigger them.

You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings → RentSnap.

Analytics & Tracking

The App does not use any analytics, advertising, or behavioural tracking SDKs. We do not track you across apps or websites. No advertising identifier (IDFA) is accessed or used.

Firebase

The App includes the Firebase SDK (by Google) as infrastructure for potential future features such as account-based backup. At present, no data is sent to Firebase and no Firebase services are active. If this changes, this policy will be updated and you will be notified in advance.

In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple’s privacy policy governs all transaction data.

When you subscribe, the App stores a local flag confirming your subscription status. This flag is not linked to your Apple ID and is not transmitted anywhere.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party. The only data that ever leaves your device is what you explicitly choose to export — for example, sharing a PDF condition report by email or AirDrop. That sharing is performed entirely by you using iOS’s native share sheet.

Data Retention & Deletion

All data is held on your device for as long as you use the App. You can delete individual properties, rooms, or photos at any time within the App.

To delete all App data immediately, go to Settings → Erase All Data within the App, or delete the App from your device. Both actions permanently remove all locally stored data.

Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for adults (18+) who are renting residential property. We do not knowingly collect data from or market to anyone under 18.

Your Rights (UK GDPR)

Because we do not collect or process personal data on our servers, most UK GDPR data-subject rights (access, rectification, portability, erasure) are exercised entirely by you, on your own device, without needing to contact us.

If you have a query relating to this policy, or believe we have inadvertently processed personal data, please contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you via an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
