ROADILO LEGAL
Privacy Policy (Roadilo)
1. Introduction
Roadilo ("we," "us," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle the data you enter into the App, what information we collect, and your rights in relation to that data. Roadilo is a vehicle management app for iPhone that stores information about your vehicles, service history, fuel records, and trips.
2. Information We Collect
A. Vehicle & Maintenance Data You Enter
- Vehicle details (registration, make, model, year, colour, fuel type, engine capacity), MOT dates, insurance dates, service records, repair logs, tyre records, and fuel fill-ups are stored locally on your device only. This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
- Vehicle photos you add are stored in the App's local storage on your device. They are not uploaded or shared by us.
B. Location Data (Trip Recording)
- When you use the trip recorder, Roadilo requests access to your device's location (including background location) to record your driving route. GPS route data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
- Background location access is used solely to continue recording a trip when you switch apps or lock your phone. You can revoke location access at any time in your iPhone Settings.
C. DVLA Vehicle Lookup
- When you enter a UK registration plate to auto-fill vehicle details, Roadilo sends the registration number to our server at domcreator.co.uk, which queries the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service (VES) on your behalf. The registration number is used only to look up vehicle details and is not stored on our servers.
- The DVLA API returns publicly available vehicle information (make, year, colour, fuel type, engine capacity, MOT status, tax status). No personal identifying information is returned by or stored as part of this lookup.
D. Advertising Data (Google AdMob)
- Roadilo displays ads via Google AdMob on the free tier. Google may collect advertising identifiers, device information, and usage data to serve relevant ads. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Ads are shown only on free accounts. Subscribing to Roadilo Pro removes all advertising.
E. Crash Reports & Analytics
- Anonymous crash reports and usage metrics may be collected to diagnose bugs and improve app stability. No vehicle data, location history, or personal identifiers are included in these reports.
F. No Account Required
- Roadilo does not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifier linked to your in-app usage.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the service: Display your vehicle details, maintenance history, trip records, and deadline countdowns entirely on-device.
- To perform DVLA lookups: Relay your registration plate to the DVLA API and return vehicle details to the app.
- To serve ads (free tier): Allow Google AdMob to display relevant advertisements.
- To improve the app: Review anonymous crash reports to fix bugs.
- Legal compliance: Meet applicable regulatory and legal obligations.
4. Data Sharing & Disclosure
- DVLA (via our proxy): Registration plates you enter are forwarded to the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service to retrieve publicly available vehicle data. The registration is not stored by us after the lookup completes.
- Google AdMob (free tier only): Advertising identifiers and device information are shared with Google for ad serving.
- Apple: In-app purchase and subscription management is handled by Apple. Apple's privacy policy governs that data.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect user safety.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your vehicle data, location data, or personal information to any third party for any purpose.
5. Location Data
Roadilo requests location permission to power the GPS trip recorder. Location data is used exclusively to record driving routes and is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit, store, or share your location history on any server. You can revoke location access at any time by going to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Roadilo. Revoking location access will disable the trip recording feature.
6. Data Retention
- Vehicle, maintenance, fuel, and trip data: Stored only on your device for as long as you keep the App installed. Deleting the App removes all data permanently.
- DVLA lookup: Registration plates are processed in real time and not stored on our servers after a response is returned.
- Crash logs: Retained in anonymous form for up to 90 days, then deleted.
- No personal data is ever retained on our servers beyond the duration of a DVLA lookup request.
7. Data Security
- On-Device Storage: All vehicle records, trip routes, and photos are stored using iOS secure file storage and never leave your device.
- DVLA Proxy: Lookup requests are made over HTTPS/TLS. Registration plates are not logged or stored server-side.
- Advertising: Ad network communications use TLS/SSL encryption.
- No Cloud Backup by Us: We do not operate cloud backup of your data. If you use iCloud Backup, Apple's security and privacy policies govern that backup.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Delete Your Data. Delete the App to permanently remove all data stored by Roadilo from your device.
Revoke Location Access. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Roadilo and set to "Never" at any time. This disables trip recording.
Limit Ad Tracking. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and disable ad tracking for Roadilo.

10. Children's Privacy
Roadilo is not intended for users under 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we become aware that a child has submitted information, we will take steps to address this.
11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected — see Section 2 above.

We will respond within 30 days.
