STEPZENO FOR iPHONE — LEGAL
Privacy Policy (StepZeno for iPhone)
StepZeno ("we," "our," "us") provides a step tracking and wellness app for iPhone. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you as an iOS user.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app.
1. Data We Collect
We may collect:
- Account data: email address, display name, and profile photo if you choose to sign in.
- Activity data: steps, distance, calories, active time, floors, streaks, goals, and related history stored locally on your device.
- Apple Health / HealthKit data (optional): step count, distance, and calorie records you explicitly authorise StepZeno to read via the iOS Health permissions screen.
- Subscription data: subscription status, product identifiers, and purchase state managed through App Store / StoreKit.
- App settings and preferences: units, goals, reminders, theme and accent colour choices, onboarding selections.
- Weight data (optional): weight entries and BMI you manually log within the app, stored locally on your device.
- Analytics data: app usage events and basic diagnostics to help us improve reliability and performance.
2. How We Use Data
We use data to:
- Provide core features including live tracking, history views, insights, and challenges.
- Personalise your experience, goals, and streak tracking.
- Manage and verify PRO subscription access through the App Store.
- Improve app reliability, performance, and future features.
- Detect abuse and protect app security.
3. Legal Bases (where applicable)
Depending on your location, we process data under one or more of these bases:
- Your consent (for example, granting Apple Health / HealthKit access).
- Performance of a contract (providing the app features you request).
- Legitimate interests (improving app quality and preventing abuse).
- Legal obligations.
4. Apple Health / HealthKit
- HealthKit access is entirely optional and must be granted by you via the iOS Health permissions screen.
- StepZeno reads step count, distance, and calorie data only for the purposes of displaying and tracking your activity within the app.
- Data obtained from HealthKit is not shared with third parties, used for advertising, or sold.
- You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health on your iPhone.
- Revoking access stops any further HealthKit reads by StepZeno immediately.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share limited data with:
- Apple / App Store services (subscription and purchase verification via StoreKit).
- Analytics providers, where applicable, for aggregated app performance data.
We may also disclose data when required by law or to protect legal rights and safety.
6. Data Storage and Retention
- Most of your data — steps, weight, goals, settings — is stored locally on your iPhone and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Subscription and purchase verification is handled by Apple's StoreKit infrastructure.
- Where server-side data exists, we retain it only as long as needed for the purposes above, legal compliance, and dispute resolution.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your region (including the UK and EU under GDPR/UK GDPR), you may have rights to access, delete, correct, restrict, or object to the processing of your data.
In-app options include:
- Signing out of your account.
- Resetting local app data on your device.
- Disabling reminders and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- Revoking HealthKit access in iOS Health settings.
- Cancelling your subscription via your Apple ID subscription settings.
To exercise other rights or submit a data request, please use our contact form.
8. Children's Privacy
StepZeno is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. International Data Processing
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including where Apple's services and any other service providers we use operate. We take appropriate steps to ensure data transfers comply with applicable law.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of StepZeno after an update means you accept the revised policy.
